After hoping to put off neutering Hank until he had filled out a little bit more, I finally made the appointment to have him fixed next Tuesday.

He has been getting picked on in the dog run for being the only dog with testicles. At first he could get away with it because he was also a puppy. But, he’s too grown up now (even though he still a complete spazz). So, for the sake of his ability to continue to play with his friends, he’s going under the knife sooner than expected.

It is expensive to neuter a dog in NYC. The estimate for Hank, assuming he’s over 50 lbs now, is at least $511. The rescue group that I adopted Hank from offered to have their vet do it for me and then it would only cost about $175. However, that means getting him 2 hours upstate for the procedure. With gas, tolls and my time it’s not really worth the trip.

So, if anyone knows of any sort of rebate program for NYC spay/neuter that would allow me to use my vet let me know!
