If you enjoy taking your dog to Dog Beach in Prospect Park, be careful. As reported in The Brooklyn Paper, there has been a surge in nearby rat population lately. Rat droppings can pass on a disease called leptospirosis to your dogs and is potentially fatal.

To that end, the Parks Department has set out rat poison. Be careful with your pooches in the park!
